Nar-Anon Hope After Loss

The HAL Publications Committee develops new literature that meets the unique needs of our members, and reviews and comments on Nar-Anon recovery literature. Our goal is to give HAL members a voice and to educate the larger Nar-Anon community on issues affecting those who have lost loved ones to the disease of addiction.

We have begun accepting HAL member shares and essays. These may be published on this web site and/or may be included in future World Service approved literature.

(updated March 2021 – and most Wednesdays!) Our group finds it beneficial to meet weekly, except when we decide as a group to *not*.

For instance, in June 2020 several of us wanted to attend the Nor-Cal Workshops, so we did not hold a meeting that Saturday. However, on July 4, which fell on a Saturday, we *did* meet, and even included remembrances of the sparkle, independence, and other fireworks our lost loved ones brought to our lives, before starting the meeting. We also held our qualifiers close on October 31st with a special Day of the Dead remembrance time before the meeting started.

We will put up an announcement when we do NOT have a meeting on any particular day.

Our Zoom log-in has not changed since we launched in April 2020.

We will do our best to keep this website updated with any Wednesdays or Saturdays we are *not* meeting, and will include that information with current Zoom log-in details, if you are joining us for the first time.

The Hope After Loss group was started April 25, 2020 as a virtual (teleconference) meeting, to fill a special need that cannot be fully satisfied by most general Nar-Anon groups, or grief support groups that are not familiar with the Nar-Anon program. In other circumstances, it might have been formed as a small, local in-person group in addition to similar groups in other parts of the country. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the stay-at-home rules, it was started as a world-wide virtual meeting, and immediately attracted many members who were in this unique situation and had lost their local groups.
